1981 Yamaha RD350LC
One of our recent restorations. Although it had been “done up” years ago, it was starting to look tatty and didn’t run wellr, they had used the type of nuts / bolts etc that you find in a hardware shop instead of the originals, so correct fasteners had to be located and re plated.
Stripping the engine proved things to be in good order. We replaced piston rings, outer main bearings, seals and gaskets along with repainting the outer covers and blasting the crank cases, it looked as new once again.
One special requirement for this age Yamaha is the “drab olive passivate” plating we had to replicate on various parts and fasteners. Most of the perished rubber and worn out parts are still available off the shelf from Yamaha.
When road testing you can see why these were regarded as “the” best bike of the early 80’s and still very desirable.
